Sharing a city limits and a state line with Clarksville is Oak Grove, Ky., a city of about 8,000 directly across the highway from Fort Campbell.
Oak Grove is home to many retail establishments lining Fort Campbell Boulevard that serve soldiers and their families, including hotels, the local favorite Charlie's Steakhouse and the area's fourth Wal-Mart SuperCenter.
Off the boulevard are several growing residential developments.
According to the city's Web site, Oak Grove was founded in 1828 as a farming community and was named for a grove of trees near the city's first post office.
