The primary functions are to help control the animal population,
investigate dog bite cases and rabies control.
If you have an unwanted pet, Animal Control suggests to find it a home. The shelter will accept your pet
if you are a Montgomery County resident, but that animal has the chance of being euthanized.
The shelter does not pick up dead animals. The Street Department is responsible for disposing of dead
animals found on city streets.
Call 648-5750 or go to www.montgomerycountytn.org and click Animal Control. For emergencies involving
dog bites, call the police or Sheriff's Office, or 911.
Call 648-8042 or e-mail humanesociety@clarksville.com.
Information can also be found on the Web at www.clarksvillehumanesociety.org.
The environmental section of the Montgomery County Public Health Department coordinates animal
vaccinations, and lab facilities are available to detect whether an animal has rabies. Office hours are
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Health Department is closed on holidays. For more
information, call 648-5747.
